CYBERBULLYING

Bullies and mean girls seem to exist forever. When people perceive themselves as superiors, they put others under them. People has the tendency to be obsessed with power. This behavior might give birth to a bully who inflicts both physical and emotional pain to its victim. Bullying was never a bizarre scenario. It can happen anywhere, anytime and anybody can be a victim. It has also a lot of forms and one of them is cyberbullying.

Social media is all fun and games not until cyber bullying ensues. Bullying by the means of social media is rampant nowadays. Our generation wants to express ourselves badly that we often neglect the fact that we are becoming insensitive. It is easy for us to send hate in a blink of an eye because we simply hide behind our screens and start typing. We have all the courage knowing that we have the power to hide ourselves and destroy other people’s name anonymously. Social media is a great platform for communication as well as for judgment. A lot of people today especially those who belong to generation Z mishandle the usage of social media. Together with progress comes the responsibility that we certainly lack of; catfights on facebook walls, humiliation threads on twitter, and nasty video that can circulate on the internet. Well, what can I say? Nothing but I have to welcome you all to our generation where discrimination is clear and manners are blur.

As an artist, I’m often asked about my take on bashing and bullying on social media. You know what I say? I say… why would I even waste my time listening to criticism from people who can’t even do any better? -Superjanella

At this time, social media bashing is uncontrollable. Scrolling through social media sites tend you to know latest issues. The main victims of these are celebrity personalities. Have you tried checking your social media account and saw a post from a celebrity and it is not on your favor? For that instance, you directly concluded without knowing the different sides of the story. You bashed online because you believe that you have the freedom to speak not knowing what it will cost. Celebrities are just like us, a human. We have feelings and different levels of sensitivity.

“BULLYING IN SOCIAL MEDIA IS A SIGN OF INSECURITY AND WEAKNESS.” – Rev Run

The quote above is a simple reminder where our insecurities and immaturity can bring us. Being a keyboard warrior doesn’t make you a brave person at all. In fact, to attack someone anonymously, is something a product of ones stupidity. Humanity needs more hope not fools. We have to remember that no one can make us inferior, not without our consent. Men invented technology for the purpose of making life convenient rather than a tool for destruction. We are responsible of our own words for they could kill someone’s soul. Let us not use social media to destroy a life instead, let us put an end to this stigma. Stand with us, create a change and let us start within ourselves. We don’t have to pull others down for us to go up. There is already an enormous amount of hate in this world so learn the art of appreciation and spread love. Maybe someday, we will live in a place where harmony and peace exists in both the physical and digital world.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
